Classic Boat

IN ASSOCIATION WITH

This ever-popular feature promises to offer something of interest to anyone who would like to experience the atmosphere of a friendly working boatyard – where those who display their much-cherished boats, or demonstrate the traditional skills they are so passionate about, will be on hand to engage with sailors of all ages.

Look over the shoulders of renowned marine artists as they paint the beautiful boats on display, which this year includes two majestic slipper launches and a pretty little trailer-sailing cutter.

Classic BoatExperts will be available to offer advice on sourcing the skills and equipment base behind classic boating, while others will be giving practical demonstrations on how to preserve a classic wooden boat with modern paint finishes and other high-tech treatments.

And to augment the aroma of timber, tar & oakum of a traditional working yard, a distillery with long-standing maritime connections will be encouraging adult visitors get into the more relaxed spirit of this feature, where old naval salts will be persuading visitors have a go at mastering the art of climbing into a ‘proper’ ships hammock and a classic sailing enthusiasts club will show you how to master the intricacies of their beloved gaff rig.
