SARAH OUTEN
In March 2009 23 year old Sarah Outen will set off across the
Indian Ocean, rowing from W Australia over 3,000 miles to
Mauritius. She will be alone, with just oars to power her and
everything she may need loaded inside her custom-built 6m long
ocean rowing boat. In making her attempt, she will be the first
woman ever to row this ocean and the youngest person across the
Indian.
The project has been over 3 years in the making but Sarah was
spurred on following the sudden death of her father in 2006. Since
then she has graduated from Oxford University, taught for a year,
crewed with disabled sailor Geoff Holt's team in his historic GB
circumnavigation in 2007; sailed across the North Atlantic; rowed
around Gran Canaria and undertaken various other endurance events.
Working with a team of professionals to prepare her mind and body
for the row, Sarah is currently training hard and continuing
preparations, but will be taking time out from the busy schedule to
appear at the London International Boat Show with her boat
'Serendipity'. She is very proud to be supported by the London
International Boat Show, who are a Gold Sponsor of her row, and is
looking forward to appearing on the Main Stage for the Official
Launch of her record attempt.
