Description

The Old Salt Loft is located on the UK’s East Coast; inspired by the region’s sailing culture and breathing new life in to maritime materials.

Formerly known as Ragbags – the name of our signature sailcloth bag still sold today – The Old Salt Loft rebranded in 2014 to celebrate an expansion into many different areas of expertiese.

Staying true to our roots, The Old Salt Loft’s bags take retired sailcloths and turn them in to shoulder bags, weekend bags, beach bags and shoppers. We also apply these designs to new sailcloth and encourage our customers to dig through their lofts for spare sail material, working closely together to create a completely customised designs of their own. Early in 2016 The Old Salt Loft purchased a maching which now allows us to add full colour logos to recycled sailcloth reaching out to clubs, classes and corporate clients alike.

Our Design your Own collection puts the customer on design duty, with the chance to choose the colour and style of the bag and tailor details such as the rope handle, stitching and zip shades. The finishing touch is oversized initials, chosen numbers, or any three characters that give each bag its own personal design.

And this year as seen the expansion of The Old Salt Loft’s clothing collection (Team Kit). Unisex hoodies and T-shirts caps, beanies jackets and polos are now available as team gear for men, women and kids, with personalised graphics included in the price.

The Old Salt loft has been reaching out to areas we had only previously dreamed of by adding photos and artwork to a whole range of gifts including coasters, placemats, flip flops photo gifts, allumunium panels and much more.

Why sailcloth?
Sailcloth is sturdy, waterproof, and completely eco-friendly. Our authentic recycled sailcloth is made to withstand everything from a saltwater dunking to the fiercest of airport baggage handlers. A life at sea means sailcloth travels well. Because of the nature of sails, the more you use your sailcloth, the softer it becomes, and it is super easy to clean. Each bag has its own unique identity, as often our materials come with wear and tear from a previous life, adding to the character. Plus, being a pre-loved material, our recycled cloth is very well priced.
